Pumping and Cooling of Nanomechanical Vibrations Generated by Cooper-Pair Exchange

We consider a nanoelectromechanical system composed of carbon nanotube suspended between two normal leads and coupled to superconducting scanning tunneling microscope (STM) tip via vacuum tunnel barrier. Treating the as single-level quantum dot, it is shown that an applied voltage STM gives rise pumping or cooling mechanical subsystem depending on direction electronic flow. It also demonstrated transition these regimes controlled by strength coupling relative position level. Such phenomena are realized due specific electromechanical fully governed dynamics Cooper pairs. The amplitude self-sustained oscillations in regime analyzed numerically, effective temperature obtained.
